Getting Married in 2027 in Touraine: When Should You Book Your Photographer?
Our advice as photographers, so you don't miss your date
For a 2027 wedding in Touraine, we recommend you book your photographer as soon as your date and venue are set, ideally once the venue is confirmed. For a Saturday in the warmer months, the earlier you reach out, the more choice and peace of mind you will have.
We are Claire and Cyril Chaumont, a wedding photography duo in Varennes (37600), in southern Touraine, about ten minutes from Loches. Every year, couples write to us wondering whether they are "too early" or, on the contrary, "already late". Here is what we tell them, gently and without pressure.
Booking a wedding photographer in Touraine: why not wait?
A photographer can only cover one wedding at a time. Once your date is taken, it is taken: the lovely days from May to September go first, and Saturdays go faster than any other day.
Booking early also takes a worry off your list. Between the venue, the caterer, the outfits and the invitations, the list is long. Once your photographer is chosen, you know your memories are in good hands and you can move on with everything else with a lighter heart.
And there is the time to get to know each other. The earlier you contact us, the more calmly we can talk, get to know you, and prepare the timeline of your day together.
When to book depending on your wedding date
These are guidelines from experience, not rules: every situation is different.
- A Saturday from May to September: this is the busiest period in Indre-et-Loire. We suggest writing to us as soon as the venue is booked, without waiting until everything else is organised.
- A spring or autumn weekend: you have a little more room, but it is best not to wait until the last minute if you want to have a choice.
- A Friday, a Sunday or an off-season date: availability is often wider, though it is still worth talking about early.
- A small wedding or a simple ceremony: the same applies, do not wait until everything is settled to contact us. We adapt to your plans.
In every case, if you are unsure, write to us: we will tell you honestly whether we are available on your date.
In what order should you book: venue, caterer, photographer?
The venue and the date almost always come first, since everything else depends on them. Once that is settled, we recommend not leaving the photographer for last.
This is our conviction, and we share it kindly: the photographer is often one of the last suppliers couples look at, yet it is the only physical keepsake that will remain, along with the wedding rings. The flowers fade, the dress is put away, the venue and the decoration are packed up, the guests go home. Only the photos remain.
If you are still visiting venues, that is perfectly fine: you can already discover our duo and our wedding portfolio to see whether our eye speaks to you.
How does booking work with us?
We like to keep everything simple and human. You tell us about your plans: the date, the venue, the atmosphere you imagine. We present our wedding collections, from the half-day to the full day, with options to build an offer that suits you, such as the first look or an engagement session. You will find them on our wedding page.
Then we check together whether our duo is available on your date. We work throughout Touraine, and travel is included up to 50 km from Varennes: Loches, Tours, Amboise, Chinon, Châtellerault…
What officially secures your wedding date
Many couples ask us when their date is "really" booked. Here are the steps, in full transparency: we first talk about your date during an initial meeting and check that we are available. You then receive your quote by email and can accept it online, followed by the signing of the contract, which we invite you to read calmly to the end.
It is the payment of the 30% deposit that definitively secures your date. Until that is done, we cannot block it for you, which is why it is better not to let things drag once you have found your venue.
After that, we have plenty of time to prepare your day together: a personalised pose guide if you feel uneasy in front of the camera, a plan A, a plan B in case of rain and a plan C in case of a heatwave. All the little things that are far better prepared when they are not rushed.
What if your wedding is less than a year away?
Don't panic: it is never too late to write to us. Some dates remain available, particularly on weekdays, off-season or outside the most popular Saturdays.
The simplest thing is to give us your date and venue. We will answer frankly: if we are booked, we will tell you, and if we are free, we will take the time to prepare your day properly.
